Meghan Markle formally joined the British royal family in May 2018 when she gave her “I do” to Prince Harry, currently sixth in line to the throne – since then, the world glued their attention to the former actress.
Being the latest addition, a lot of insiders claim that Queen Elizabeth II favors her more than Kate Middleton, who tied the knot with Prince William in 2011.
Kate has had her fair share of being the media sensation — what she wore, how much she spends, and the details of her life had all been bared.
Although she is a private person who tries her hardest to keep her personal life away from the prying eyes of the public, that didn’t stop people from talking about everything she does.
Suddenly, things changed in a few years, thanks to his brother-in-law’s wife, Meghan. But then again, gossip-mongers found a new topic to delve on.
Royal family watchers created a so-called rift between the two duchesses, with some even saying that the 92-year-old monarch sees Meghan as her new favorite.
Thankfully, a recent outing finally cleared the air and will hopefully be enough to convince naysayers that the Queen also supports the wife of Prince William just as much as she does with the Duchess of Sussex.
First Solo Engagement in a Long Time
Together, Her Majesty and her granddaughter-in-law arrived at the Bush House in King’s College on March 19, the first outing Kate had with the Queen in seven years.
The first time was in 2012, so it was definitely a heartwarming sight. Many people and spectators gave special attention to the occasion since it is rare that they see these two respectable ladies bonding.
As others noted, the Duchess of Cambridge could have been accompanied by another royal family member in the event, but it was allegedly the reigning monarch’s decision to make a trip for just the two of them.
Apparently, insiders believe that this was not at all accidental – the Queen thought this would be the perfect opportunity to publicly show her support for Kate as her relationship with Meghan has been tickling the curiosity of the people of late, add to that the unbelievable media coverage on her pregnancy. Perhaps, it also paved the way for them to talk and bond more, even on the car ride to the venue.
While arriving, photographers snapped the two royals sharing a blue blanket inside the car, just imagine the Queen keeping herself warm with Kate – what an adorable scene, which also seemed to be a proof that they enjoyed the moment!
The Duchess also showed her respect for her grandmother-in-law by allowing her to exit the vehicle first, a custom among the royals.
In relation to this, Kate kept her eyes on Her Majesty as they were touring to make sure that nothing bad happens to the Queen.
Emily Andrews, who was at the event, said she was afraid that the monarch may have an accident or something may happen since the royal found it hard to walk on uneven flooring.
The witness divulged that the future queen consort noticed the vulnerability and had her eyes always on her companion.
Meanwhile, there are rumors that say that the Queen is very fond of Kate for how she handles everything – from carrying herself gracefully to being there for Prince William to raising their three children: Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis. She also commends the Duchess for always trying her best not to be the talk of the town.
On the other hand, people can’t help but compare how long it took Meghan to have her first solo event with the Queen than with Kate.
The Duchess of Sussex and Her Majesty had their first solo engagement in June last year, or just a month after the former “Suits” actress tied the knot with Prince Harry at St George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle.
Of course, this has spawned a lot of speculations, including one that says the Queen had a rough start with Kate when she and Prince William were still dating, but obviously they have cemented a strong connection; while another one just believes that Meghan and the Queen just get well together.
