Billie Eilish has no doubt cast everyone under her spell through her electronic, dark hits that ultimately show her singing prowess.
But in December, when the Grammy nominations were announced, tied to her name was Finneas O’Connell, her older big brother, who impressively got five nods from the award-winning body – or just one shy away from her sisters’.
You got that right — the 22-year-old producer is making a name in the industry alongside his sister. Finneas is a co-writer of some of Billie’s biggest hits from her debut album When We Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? so winning was expected from the get-go.
With the worldwide attention he and Billie got, it is safe to say that Finneas is one of the most coveted producers of today. Here’s what you should know about him:
Born on July 30, 1997, Finneas grew up being homeschooled with Billie in Los Angeles. Their parents, Maggie Baird and Patrick O’Connell, were actors who emphasized that they weren’t keen about making money – instead, they remained artsy.
Did you know that before his music career flourished, Finneas had a hand in acting? He played Alistair in the now-defunct musical drama series Glee in 2015. His character was one of the members of William McKinley High School’s glee club called New Directions.
Before his stint in Glee, Finneas played Shane in Life Inside Out, a 2013 indie drama that also starred his mom, Maggie (Laura), who wrote the film. Plus, the man also appeared twice in the sitcom Modern Family.
Sorry for the hopefuls out there, but Finneas is already taken. He and Claudia Sulewski have been dating and have been seen in important events together – her man accompanied her when she graced the Revolve Awards for YouTube Channel of the Year.
Her name may ring a bell and that’s because she is also quite popular over the internet. On YouTube, she has over 2 million subscribers while 1.4 million people follow her on photo-sharing app Instagram.
Plus, Finneas released a song called Claudia, which is pretty much self-explanatory. However, one weird thing that fans usually ramble about is that she uncannily looks like Billie!
Working With Big Stars
Apart from her 18-year-old sister, Finneas has also worked with some of the biggest musicians, including Camila Cabello, whom he vocally admires so much. They collaborated on Used to This, a track from the former Fifth Harmony member’s Romance album.
